SERDANG, September 10 - Sultan Abdul Samad Library, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has launched a program called Read@Uni to improve the reading culture among the university’s members. A book submission to the college as the symbol of the Competition of Reading Corner Read@Uni was held. Twelfth College has also launched Let’s Read Campaign for the college residents in support to the university’s campaign.

In this regard, the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) has decided to implement the National Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan (DMK) 2021-2030 campaign aimed at establishing Malaysia as a culturally literate nation and making Malaysians a world-class knowledgeable nation.

The Read@Uni Program with the slogan "With Knowledge We Lead" was implemented with coordination by libraries at all universities to further encourage reading culture campaigns at their institutions and help support the aspirations of establishing a reading decade by 2030. The program will be implemented planned and ongoing at UPM to foster reading interest and support learning, teaching and research towards creating a culturally literate and knowledgeable university.

The judging was held at the UPM @ 2019 Reader Union Reader Screening Level at the Twelfth College. The competition was judged by 2 judges. The competition is an effort to ensure that each department has its own READ @ UNI corner as recommended by the university.

The Reading Corner is called Srengenge Corner taken from one of the nation's best-known novels, Shahnon Ahmad. The Beacon of Knowledge covers 5 major categories such as fiction and non-fiction books, innovation, design, marketing and interactive interactive children's play, staff and eDU-PARK visitors.

Relaxing book reviews and explanations during the judging are among the exciting performances during the judging session. The Twelfth College staff continued to devote their ideas and energy to the completion of this reading project after the initial planning was changed and eventually the team's efforts were successful.

They expects the culture of reading to be continuously cultivated among Twelfth College staff and this angle can be fully utilized to enhance staff knowledge.
