Judging of the 2022 READ@UNI UPM Reading Corner Competition

SERDANG, 23 September – In line with the 2030 National Reading Decade Campaign by the Department of Higher Education (JPT), Universiti Putra Malaysia has taken the initiative to launch READ@UNI with the slogan "With Knowledge We Lead" in support of the government's desire to invigorate the reading culture in Malaysian Higher Education Institutions. Read@Uni is a reading campaign initiative for all universities in Malaysia organized by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. The main objective of this program is to make reading habits especially among university students increase in percentage by the year 2030.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Library will organize the Read@Uni UPM Reading Corner Competition 2022 to encourage reading activities among students, lecturers and university residents as a whole. This competition is one of the Awards contested in conjunction with UPM Service Quality and Innovation Day (HKIP) 2022. This competition is open to all PTJs at UPM and the results of the competition will be announced at the HKIP 2022 celebration.

Twelfth College (K12) also participated in realizing Read@Uni by providing a reading corner named as Mutiara Dua Belas. The judging of the READ@UNI UPM 2022 reading corner competition for the College/Service category will be held on 21-23 September 2022. Twelve College was visited on 22 September 2022 by Puan Siti Khairiah bt. Yusof, Sultan Abdul Samad Library and Mr. Syaizwar Hazry b. Samsudin, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication.

Brief reading of the book with Puan Muliati Abdul Rahman which is "Memoir Radin Umar Radin Sohadi: Aku Dan Amanah-Mu" during the judging of the competition. The selection of the cover was made because the book was the first book distributed to all PTJ from the Sultan Abdul Samad Library in 2019 in conjunction with the launch of READ@UNI at UPM. This book is an observation of livelihood and the surrounding environment. The expression of his ideas and feelings in this memoir clearly shows that Radin Umar is fundamental in principle, contemporary in approach and futuristic in outlook and vision. The call is light, but has a deep meaning. His invitation is simple, but powerful and loaded with determination to carry it out.

Well done and congratulations to the members of Twelfth College for making the Read@Uni Reading Corner at Kolej Dua Belas a success.
